VETART Fallbrook Foundry Saturdays: 9 am - 2 pm-Introduction to Bronze casting

Location; 300 e Alvarado Street, Fallbrook Ca 92024
Ongoing open entry bronze casting class. Participants will be instructed in the ancient art of the bronze casting process. All beginning students will model for a realistic likeness to be produced through the process heavy discipline of Lost Wax Bronze Casting.
Prerequisites:
Having fun in a social environment,while learning cool stuff.
Once students complete their first project they will understand and demonstrate knowledge of the following:
Grounding and presence, alginate face casting, plaster mold making, wax layering and build up, gating and venting, ceramic slurry application, lost wax burn out techniques, understanding of chemical processes used to complete contemporary portraiture rendered in bronze, use of foundry equipment and safety protocols, use of hand tools, sand blasters and blast cabinets, clean up of shop area, use of various hand and power tools, taping, threading, cold work of bronze, patinas and their application.
Students will share their experience in an exhibition of the artwork they produce in an art show at the Veterans Art Project School of Foundry in Fallbrook, CA during the month of July 2019.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Dependents age 12 years and older are encouraged to participate with a qualifying parent.
Any attendee who states I am a U.S. Military Veteran, active duty, spouse, or dependent over 12 years of age is admitted FREE OF CHARGE.
What can I bring into the event?
Shop clothing (jeans, long-sleaved shirts), closed-toe shoes, willingness to learn and have fun in convivial setting.
