THE VETERANS ART PROJECT

AND THE SOLDIER'S CROSS

Cast by Veterans, for Veterans: The Soldier's Cross Program is an excellent way to support our Veteran artists while gaining a high quality memorial for your space.

The process of creating a VETART Soldier's Cross is an important socializing experience for military service members returning home, who often become isolated and suffer health problems related to this isolation. Lost-Wax Bronze-Casting is extensive, labor intensive, and requires team work and time, making it an art form conducive to community building.

The product, a solid bronze VETART Soldier's Cross, is a powerful symbol that contextualizes Veteran experiences within a public space. It serves as a timeless memorial, and means much to those who have recognize it:

"Some people get to be put back together, and some of them don't. This Soldier's Cross memorializes the ones who did not make it back to be healed. It made an impression on me, it reminds me of the loss of my friends."

-Nick, Veteran, VETART Participant/Volunteer

Help VETART continue Changing Lives Through Art, and commission a Soldier's Cross for your organization.
The first VETART Soldier's Cross was made when  VETART Foundry Manager, Instructor, and Army Veteran Scott Hickey heard that the Visalia Veterans Center Soldier's Cross had been vandalized. Scott created a new piece, this time in bronze, and VETART delivered the memorial to Visalia for installation.
